A great debate is currently taking place in the U.S regarding President Obamas agendas and ideologies. Republicans and other right wing fundamentalists are the army on the front lines trying to scare a nation already in crisis. Tacticts that are well known for the people with eyes and ears. The critique towards Obama concern oppression and socialism. The presidential televised speech regarding school system, but also Obamas thoughts regarding goverment owned automobile industry and health care are just a few of the areas concerned.
One can hear famous actor Jon Voight on "the Factor" with Bill O'Reilly (Fox News) and on CNN talking about how "We, and we alone are the right frame of mind to free this nation from this Obama oppression" "... they are attacking the entrepeneurs, they are attacking business."
Republican party Chairman Jim Greer (Florida), expresses his worries and dislike over the fact that "the taxpayers dollars are spent to spread president Obamas socialism ideology."
Rush Limbaugh (on his own readio program): " Look at me! Ladies and gentlemen, there can be no other way to say this now. The gloves have to come off, its time for people to sober up. The president of the United States, Barack Obama is destroying the United States economy. There is no other way to desbribe this. Systematically destroying it."
I don't want to promote socialism, thats not the point here. It doesn't matter if socialism is better than free market capitalism/ fundamentalism or not. Im trying to understand the political forces and hegemonies in this country. My question here is;
Didn't the great banks of the world ask the goverment for bailouts? Didn't General Motors do the same? The very common phenomenon of capitalizing the profits and socializing the losses is way to obvious to let this pass through silently. The Washington Post published an article in March of 2009 saying that the Obama administration bailouts aren't effective. The reason? Banks such as J.P Morgan and CitiGroup invested part of their bailout money in banks and business overseas.
I understand the frustration of the American tax payer. I understand that Obama might be a weak president and people need someone to blame during difficult times. Here is the paradox, its a fact that these major banks are greatly responsable for the American depression. This fact seem to have been forgotten or silenced. Last week CNN reported that many of the banks declared significant financial benefit for senior executives. Many recieved around 30% more than many of other S & P 500 companies in the country. How is this possible?
E. D. Martin expresses: "Propaganda offers ready-made opinions for the unthinking herd" (cited in Choukas, 1965, p. 15).
Hypodermic Needle Theory is a model of communications that implies that a specific message is directly received by an unreflecting and passive audience. Its a model about communications that emphazises the importance and link between propaganda and the mass media. This is a strong and effective tool of control.
The prevailing value systems that are forming passive masses are strong and exploited through all media outlets. you have been warned...
Today is September 11th. A day for mourning. A day to grief the death of innocent people. We honor those who fell victim for oppression, hidden agendas, false prophets, inhumane economic and political forces.
Today we remember the military coup in Chile 1973.

education for the ignorant masses please
The courses I'm taking are really good and the stimulation has been awesome so far. I walk around contemplating issues such as propaganda and censurship as a consequence of corporate consolidation within the music industry. Trying to really understand the underlying factors to the end of mass marketing and the importance and effects of niche marketing.
Another interesting issue is all the new alternatives for artists and the importance of new creative services that are available today. There are no end to the possibilities in todays informational highway.I wrote an article regarding the fact that Bob Dylan is talking to two car manufacturers about beeing the voice on their GPS satnav systems. Old gatekeepers are dead or in a coma basically, but one must always investigate and learn more about new and coming key stakeholders in the industry.
David Bowie said in an interview in the New York Times on June 2002, that the changes concerning attitudes towrds interlectual property will change the industry forever. In other words - Copyright is dead or dying... But people still have to make money... FACT! (as Bill Hicks would have put it while confirming a fact...). How is the question. Commerce vs. Art. Art vs. Commerce.
I have been looking into a few current issues that I found interesting and annoying. I don't want to go to deep in the issues, but I will let you know what I have been seeing and reading in the New York Times and in USA Today the last couple of days. This is part of the breakfast routine, so I reserve myself for any missed info due to morning tiredness...I'll try to keep it short and on point.
The first thing is :The U.S war in Afghanistan has been going on for eight years now and the last two months (July and August) have been the most deadly for U.S troops. I don't even want to discuss the fact that there is a war in Afghanistan and the reasons behind it, but what I find interesting are the conflicting agendas between the U.S and NATO commander in Afghanistan, Army General Stanley McChrystal, and the Obama administration in the White House. Army Gen. McChrystal says; "we must change the way we think, act and operate to achieve success". Last week he reported back to Washington that he will not seek additional troops.
Obamas plan of action might seem obvious to all us deadly, especially after this report and the fact that the public support at home regarding the war in general is shrinking in a fast pace... but according to White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, the president is open to the possibility to send more troops to Afghanistan. He continues; "There's broad agreement that for many years, our effort in Afghanistan has been under-resourced politically, military and economically".
The rabbit hole goes much deeper than this, with far more details regarding what Army Gen. McChrystal and the bigger plan set by the White House. I just feel that the agendas might not be cohesive and sometimes suspicious... who works for who and who's interests are prioritized?
I will end here. Tomorrow I will post the rest regarding another current issue, shows I'm going to attend and probably some other bullshit... Syked!
Song of the day:
Caked up and faked up, she's obsessed with the outside
Nothing earned, too afraid to fail, so she lead a hollow life void of insight
Loving what you see but hating what you think because between your mind and your body, t here's a missing fucking link that leaves you vulnerable, susceptible to pain
You're a garden of potential submerged in the rain
True beauty can't be seen with the eyes
Armed, armed with a mind
I'm going to strengthen my action with thought
Make use of the gift that I got and walk fearless because I'm armed with a mind
A weak offense when you step to this
Mind over matter is power over fists
I walk fearless because I'm armed with a mind
I walk fearless with a mind far greater than a fucking fist
Spineless and mindless, you felx your muscles and not your fucking head
A deep man with a strong point made without one thoughtful word said
Huff and puff, the fierce fists will do the talking, can't speak for yourself so your crew's with you walking
Tell me what's worth fighting for and it better be something greater than an evening of the score
Boy, you're true strength sleeps behind your eyes
It's the absent minded fool who's afraid to think, to extend an open hand, to dare to earn a thing
It's the gift inside your head not to take for granted because an unexaminded life is a seed unplanted
As the animals, they can't reason but as humans we can, so are you just a wild animal or a rational man?
Our bodies take you nowhere, might does not make right
There's a gift inside your head called your mind

nothing to report really...
After two weeks I feel like everything has been done here. This house is clear. Hopefully classes will stimulate the brain very soon. Long days, no sleep and nothing but food and hang outs makes me contra-productive. All Systems Go! is always a saviour. Endless "To Do" lists keeps my head above water.
So, I finally went out the other day... A real jungle downtown. Heaps of bars, minors and cop cars. Like everywhere else the drug flow is overwhelming. Statistics have always shown us all about the effects, costs and damages of alcohol consumtion but it is constantly ignored. "Ethanol is the most widely used depressant in the world, and has been for thousands of years. This sense underlies the term alcoholism"...By the way - our collage has a dry campus policy - no alcohol allowed in any way... To many rules makes people want to break them... and people in herds... yeah, we all know how that can go...
Im trying not to make the connection between the high consumtion of alcohol around here and all the flyers and posters regarding sexual assaults and rape emergency hotlines. I have already heard a story about such a thing taking place recently. It happened to a boy, so nobody really took it seriously... We all know what would of happen if the victim was a girl... Reason defying policies and agendas...
Some nice quotes from the Justice Department's Bureau of Justice Statistics in Washington D.C in this matter:
"FOUR IN TEN CRIMINAL OFFENDERS REPORT ALCOHOL AS A FACTOR IN VIOLENCE".
"Two-thirds of the violent crime victims who were attacked by an intimate-a current or former spouse or a boyfriend or girl friend-report that alcohol had been a factor".
"Among spouse violence victims, three out of four incidents were reported to have involved alcohol use by the offender."
For more boring and sad statistics check out stuff like The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). Don't want to take this issue to far so please relax and have a drink or something. Calm down... No judgement really from my part... I'm just saying.
I started writing this blog a week ago and things are much better here in school (probably not with the statistics though), so a more positive post will be made within 2 days... I will cover some current and interesting news here in the U.S and some more music related stuff... Please feel no dispair, all is good here, even though it doesn't show in this post.
Proof?: I got new and awesome demo songs sent to me from ZANKA (hip hop) and DANGERS (hardcore/punk). Both are epic, on point and really really good. Syked to get to work on those...
Sorry for the slow pace with the blog... Ill get better.
